As Citizen Diplomacy we want to do what is in our power to spread awareness amongst the international community about the dire situation in Colombia, as well as work in parallel with other organization to protect and empower a greater number of social leaders who have received threats and can no longer safely preside in their communities.
We want to go beyond protecting the physical integrity of these people to also strengthen the various social processes that they lead. This is a fine balance to achieve which requires a strategy according to which their claims and demands for human rights are not truncated or silenced by the protection that we can provided.
While the international efforts are working in the right direction, they are not sufficient, both in terms of scope and impact. As a citizen-run organization we hope to bring another angle to the discussion and work collaboratively with more established organizations to magnify our impact on the ground.
